Huge antique bronze vase with monkeys with rich dark brown patina. It looks like it was made out of chocolate! It stands 24 inches high and is 30 inches in circumference. It weighs 29 lbs! It is very impressive. It has a total of 6 monkeys. One monkey is shown grooming another. It appears in very good vintage condition with only a few very minor scratches. I have included a photo of the inside which shows green corrosion which speaks to its age. I don\'t see any signature or artist mark. Purchased at an antique sale of a VERY wealthy collector who had a lot of expensive art.
The inside of the vase is very rough, withs lots of extruded drops of bronze from the casting.(I have another possible explanation for the rough interior. It may be do to corrosion over many years.) The outside is not uniformly smooth, having very slight variation. Sort of like it were made of hand formed clay. The variation may be do to hand sanding to shape the vase. I definitely think it was shaped by hand sanding or with a tool. It may have been a rough casting that was smooth by hand sanding. I will pay $25.00 to the first person who can tell me how, where, and approximately when the piece was made. Payment will be to your paypal account.Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
