Large vintage heavy sterling silver shallow Navajo tray in the shape of a kachina face. There are scalloped ridged channels on three sides, which leads me to believe that the original purpose of this dish was an ashtray. It displays nicely as a sculpture. The tray has stamped geometric accents and an applied silver wire top knot on its head. I have never seen a large kachina head tray like this before. What makes it even more rare is that it bears the Navajo Arts & Crafts Guild one horned moon kachina hallmark on the back. Old Navajo jewelry with this hallmark is VERY collectible! Ca. mid - 1900’s tray is stamped “NAVAJO”, “STERLING”, and with the Guild “kachina” hallmark.

Excellent quality and very good condition. There is some splotchy tarnish in places, which I will leave up to the lucky new owner to decide whether to polish or not. Very reasonable starting price. Collector’s item!
