Haemanthus barkerae (?), a remarkable Haemanthus from southof Calvinia. It does not seem to match H. barkerae in its broad leaf blades butit could be a localized variation; H. barkerae is well known from the Calviniaarea. The nicely marked leaves are especially flat and are bluish-glaucous on the upper side. Often only one leaf appears, sometimes two. In growing multiple plants of it, whatever it is, for 20 years they havenever flowered though they seem large enough to do so. Other plants of H.barkerae of similar age have flowered here for years. The sale item (photos3-4) is one of these original stock plants.
