\"Black Bear Cub Reaches for Honey\"

This Carving is 30\" high by 11\" wide.

This is an original relief wood carving that I designed and carved in my studio. Everything, including the eyes was completely carved by hand from one piece of wood. I spend hours very carefully and precisely carving and burning my artwork. All of the coloring and shading on the entire carving was burned on by hand. The process and other details are mentioned below.

PROCESS: The medium used is kiln dried Pine. I drew my original design out on the wood, and cut and roughed it out with saws and grinders, and carved the details with grinders. I then burned all of the coloring on this sculpture with a torch, and finished up with grinders and sanders. I then prepared the wood with a coat of a penetrating oil-base finish, and then hand brushed on a coat of a top quality U.V. resistant Spar Urethane with a \"Satin\" sheen. The back is flat for wall mounting. On the back I hand carved a flush mount hanger for a nail, screw, etc. to hang it on a wall, and I also hand engraved my signature and the year.
