\"Northern Pike\"
This underwater scene with carved fish and driftwood is all one piece. I hand brushed on stains and did burning to achieve the colors, striving to bring out the beauty of the fish without hiding the beauty of the wood.This Carving is 29 3/4\" long.

This is an original relief wood carving that I designed and carved in my studio. Everything, including the eyes was completely carved by hand from one piece of wood. I spend hours very carefully and precisely carving and burning my artwork. The process and other details are mentioned below.

PROCESS: The medium used is kiln dried Pine. I drew my original design out on the wood, and cut and roughed it out with saws and grinders, and carved the details with grinders. I then used burning and stains for the coloring on this carving. I then prepared the wood with a coat of a penetrating oil-base finish, and finally hand brushed on two coats of a top quality U.V. resistant Spar Urethane with a \"Satin\" sheen. The back is flat for wall mounting. On the back I hand carved a flush mount hanger for a nail, screw, etc. to hang it on a wall, and I also hand engraved my signature and the year.
