Hand-Carved Wooden Shaman Witch-Doctor Tribal Mask!
I don\'t know the exact age of this mask... I’ve had this item in my possession for well over 20 years..
This fully wearable mask was hand-carved and hand-painted in Indonesia. It has a moving jaw that mostly hangs open. The top is covered in horse hair, jute, and even a couple of real human dreadlocks… There are various real bone embellishments all over it (not sure what kind of bones)… on the back there is another smaller “mask”, also hand-carved from wood and hand-painted… I’ve fitted some padding on the inside of the nose for comfort, as this mask was often worn for dancing at drum circles and other sacred ceremonies… The tusks are worn at the tips, but still quite fierce. The type of wood used is very light-weight, so the whole thing only weighs about 3lbs.
