This is a handmade twist action ballpoint pen made by Placid Crafts.Yes, this is the same solid surface used for countertops. Commonly known as Corian, although there are many makers of Solid Surface. The Hardware on these pens is 24ct. Gold and Chrome. The Solid surface material is an acrylic like material that is very durable. Solid surface is about 1/2\" thick so two pieces have to be glued together to make the pen blank. Then the blank then is cut to length, drilled out and a brass tube glued in. From there it is turned in a wood lathe and sanded thru 20,000 grit, then polished. The pen is 5-3/4\" long. I would consider this a larger diameter pen because it is over 1/2\". The solid surface materials are very unique and not like the standard pen blanks that you buy. Pen #016
