Irene was an Circus Arialistand Burt was a Clown. They were mostly with Ringling Bros. from 1919 - 1940\'s.
They traveled with the circus in their wagon and later their mobil home.
They had no children so their home and family was the circus.Originally Irene was married to theirbest friend and some time partner clown and arialist, Gene DeKos.
He was killed in a circus arialist accident.Sometime later Irene andBurt struck up a closer relationship and eventually married. After Burt died, Irene retired to Ringling Bros. Winter Quarters in Sarasota, Florida.

Not only was Irene a Circus Performer, shewas also an amazing Artist and Amazing Photographer as you will see by the extroadinary items coming up for offer. These were not done by her to sell. They were of their friends. She would stop and take a photo of them and them sometimeshave them autograph it.
True folk art. These have been in my collection for over 20 years. There also is a LARGE FAMILY PHOTO ALBUM you will see listed.
It is expensive and I\'m only telling you about it only so you can get to experience these amazing images:
Things like:The Barnum and Baily Baseball Team, Circus Train Wrecks, Early 1900\'s Circus Wagons stuck in the mud, The Circus Doctor and his Nurse (his wife) in their medical circus wagon, Telegrams saying \"Join the Circus in...\". One initialed by John Ringling North etc.It\'s taken over 12 listings to be able to show you less than half of the album OF OVER 100 pages (200 with both sides). The price listed is for the complete album. But again... I spent the time photographing these so as to share the experience with you.The photos were taken by Irene. I imagine there are over 2,000 original, never published photos dating back as early as 1919. Many of these were autographed by the circus star to Burt and Irene after she took the photo. And check out the Telegrams on the back inside over. I also have the original negatives for some of these that may also be available.The wallet and the small sized personal photo album Irene made for Burt were made with pure love. They were obviously used and cherished by Burt. Again, you will never see anything like these again.Irene, was also a wonderful artist. Her oil paintings were not done to sell. They were paintings she did of her circus friends that she lived and traveled with. These are completely different from circus scene artists like J. Beal... These are true Grandma Moses style Magical Circus Folk Art. There is nothing like these that you will ever come across again.REMEMBER:
