This is an exciting guitar. Top of the line Harmony H55 with solid Adirondack(alleged) Spruce solid soundboard and a Honduran Mahogany solid back and sides. The guitar pickup is in great condition and works. The guitar at some point has been to a skilled luthier. It is setup at 2mm at 12th fret and .5mm or less at the 1st fret. Initially there was an open string only buzz which was resolved by sealing the machine tune grommets with elmers glue. No buzz anymore. Inside the original repair luthier placed 3 braces of soft spruce on the lower bout rib treble side and one brace on the waist rib bass side. There are no breaks in the ribs at the braces, just appears to be a precaution for something they saw. There has been a repair on the lower bout rib bass side on the outside which I have pictured. And in the same location there looks/feels like a very fine 3 inch crack in the finish; like a thin hair, but its there. Elsewhere there ar no disruptions to the wood. Besides the normal amount of dings and rubs you would expect to see on a 45 year old guitar. The finish is crazed in the right light. But is as soft as silk to the touch.I put new strings on it, D\'addario EXP16 3D. I am guessing that for a real guitar blues player you\'d want something better. The sound from the guitar is better than I have felt in my Harmony H162 and it does respond louder instantly as a guitar voice than either the Harmony H162 and H6362. This is a Sovereign and the thus the neck is Mahogany, not Birch. The machine tuners are vintage. The G string tuner peg machine is bent but I have not bent it back, fearing with the age of the machine tuners I would snap it. Not that it feels like it will snap. Anyhow, the strings are easily adjusted as it is.This is a classic guitar, it will respond to a good player and I think is player ready. Comes with the pictured chipboard case even though that is kind of an insult to this guitar.Search you tube for Scott Matthews, Harmony H55 and you\'ll understand the quality of sound this guitar can produce in the right hands.
