$195.00

Hasselblad Carl Zeiss 80mm Planar f/2.8 C T* Lens, Black Barrel.
In average, well-used cosmetic condition.
Mechanically perfect: all shutter speeds tested accurate, aperture blades are clean and snappy, flash sync tests fine at all speeds, DOF preview button works well. Focus feel is better than average for this era of Hassy lens: nice and smooth, well damped, not nearly as stiff as most 80mm C lenses.
Optics are a good news/bad news mix. A bargain in the right hands, but if you need a 100% optically perfect lens this isn\'t it.
The good: glass is clear with no haze or fog or fungus, very little dust. Internal coating and rear element coating appear to be fine.
The bad: T* coating on front element was completely removed at some point in the past, probably by overzealous use of cleaning fluid. Front element has a very small scratch (no effect on pictures). One internal element shows edge blackening loss (common in older lenses, no effect on pictures).
Please examine the three test photos taken with this lens handheld at wide open f/2.8 on a digital back. Performance is very good despite the front coating loss. Colors, flower detail and bokeh for the interior pic are quite nice. Flat field sharpness in the old faded newsprint pic is outstanding (nearly as good as my Makro Planar!). The only significant issue is poor handling of specular highlights or point light sources, as demonstrated in the final pic of small Christmas lights. Depending on your preferences, this can be turned to advantage to add interesting effects (somewhat similar to a Rodenstock Imagon dedicated portrait lens). Note the degree of point light blurring is consistent at all apertures from 2.8 thru 22: it does not get any better or worse than sample pic.
No caps are included: sale is for lens only.
