When I first saw this pin many years ago I turned it over to see who made it. I was shocked to find no name because it was so exquisite. I was sure it was a designer piece. Now with the internet I was able to find it. It is almost identical to a Hattie Carnegie design that is in a book on jewelry. Now I will tell you why I have termed it rare. The pin in silver is uncommon. Most are gold tone. Almost every one I\'ve seen has had a green cabachon eye. The eye on this is a faceted dark red ruby color. The only other one I saw with the ruby faceted eye was marked sterling (this one looks like it could be sterling but I don\'t know). However the really BIG difference between this and the many others I\'ve seen is that this has about 100 more rhinestones! The top of the pin...the jaw...the nose...the muzzle..all encrusted with rhinestones that the others don\'t have. They are original to the piece. They are bright and shiny. Look at the other tiger pins. Mypictures don\'t really capture the beauty of this pin. It measures app 2\" by 1 3/4\".
