Henry Charles Bryant was born in 1835 and died in 1915 in Portsmouth. He was a popular painter of portraits and landscapes, who also specialized in farmyard and market scenes. The latter were noted for their great attention to detail. He worked mainly in London and frequently exhibited between 1860 and 1888 at the Royal Academy, the British Institution, and the Royal Society of British Artists. His paintings are highly sought after today.
