Up for sale is an original 10 x 14 inch oil on canvas over board painting by the Canadian artist Henry Josiah Deforest (1860-1924). The size of the painting with frame included is approximately 13.625\" x 17.625. Painting is signed H. J. Deforest and dated 1920 lower left. The scene is of a dirt road leading up to a home and barn. Along the left hillside looks to be an apple orchard in bloom underneath a dramatic sky. This painting was purchased out of a longtime retired art dealers collection in Seattle, Washington. The center of the board that the canvas is attached to, bows slightly inward. The painting appears to be in excellent condition and UV light shows no visible inpainting. The frame has lots of areas of finish loss but appears to be original and in solid condition.
