Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Dark Blue Transferware Plate c1822 - 1836

8 3/4\" in diameter

A beautiful early Staffordshire pearlware plate by Joseph Stubbs printed with a deep cobalt blue transfer of seashells and seaweed within a cartouche surrounded by a border of large flowers and fruit. The printing and glaze is very thick almost flow blue type of application. There are two errors in the transfer at the border at 4 and 7 o\'clock seen above, they are not damage just skips in the transfer.

In excellent condition with some wear to the glaze and light scratching at the center. There are no chips or cracks, there is one small glaze pop in the border seen at 9 o\'clock above. There is fine crazing to the glaze seen mostly on the back.
