For sale is a vintage 60s Hohner Cembalet N / Electrostatic Keyboard / Piano. This keyboard uses the same high voltage electrostatic technology as Wurlitzer electronic pianos, instead of an internal pickup assembly like a Rhodes or Clavinet. What is interesting is that it uses pluckers or \"plectrums\" to pluck the reed for each note producing a unique sound.

This Cembalet has had an electronic and mechanical overhaul. All pluckers and dampers have been replaced with newly made ones (the original Cembalet pluckers broke down after about 30 years so it is rare to find a working one). The inside have been cleaned of all the debris from the original pluckers.

The preamp and power supply have had all electrolytic capacitors replaced. It works perfectly, sounds great, no pops or static from the reeds or preamp. These types of keyboards inherently have a degree of 60 cycle AC hum in the output because of the technology they use and AC interference in the preamp. Cembalet\'s electronics were laid out pretty well though so the hum is minimal compared to a Wurlitzer 200 for example.

The vibrato bulb was replaced with an original spec bulb so the vibrato works well and there are internal trimpots for adjusting depth and speed.

Original volume pedal included, the cable has been replaced with a new din plug so it fits the original jack and works.

AC power cable is also included.

Cosmetically it is not in perfect shape, there is no music stand / key-cover and no legs. I do have the handscrews for the legs. Case has some scratches and dings and a gash on the back (see pics for full details on cosmetic condition). Wooden casing is still in good, solid shape. A previous owner used an improper cleaner on the keys which gave them a somewhat rippled effect, see photo, doesn\'t affect the playability of them just the way they look.

This keyboard is in fully working, refurbished condition which makes up for the fact that it\'s not too pretty.
