A little about Hopi artist Marlon Huma

I just left Gallup, NM for my 5th year of attending the Inter Tribal ceremony. It is one of my most enjoyable annual events because of all that I learn from the Native tribes that I have become so fond. Also, it\'s one of the best opportunities to meet artisans and get to know them.

This year I met 2 native artists that inspired me in a variety of ways.

One was Marlon Huma. He was carving and painting his beloved kachinas outside the exhibit hall when I met him. He immediately began story telling about his beautiful 1st Mesa home on the Hopi reservation in Arizona. He spent time explaining what each kachina\'s role and responsibilities were.

I ended up buying several from him and wasn\'t at all surprised to learn of his award winning talents as a carver. Marlon has won several blue ribbons from prestigious judged events. His work is collected by many high end collectors.

I have included a photo of myself with Marlon at his work station.

This kachina can be a real prize in your collection.
