One day, a worker at Western Publishing back in the 1990s noticed something interesting in the dumpster on his way home: a treasure trove of historically important shop dummy covers. These were used as ongoing documents in the creation of the actual comic books and contained information not found anywhere else. Each one is a unique, one of a kind collectable. Most contain multiple covers with corrections and production notes attached. The covers are glued onto a thicker card stock and some exhibit glue stains. For years collectors speculated that the photo back covers on Gold Keys were harder to find than the advertisement versions, but due to information found on some of the shop dummy covers, it is now known that the intent of the publisher was for half of the run, to have the advertisement and for the other half to have the photo. This is just one of the many interesting pieces of information that can be gleaned from this collection. Please see the many other items I have from this historically important collection.
