Up for offers is a very large (approximately 9.5 inches from nose to rear) 1950\'s chromed metal desk/table lighter. This Art Deco beauty is a figural X15 jet fighter plane. The lighter is contained within the removable cockpit for flint and fluid maintenance.This fully chromed jet is mounted on a ball which swivels on an arm to appear as if in a climb or in descent if desired. The octagonal base appears to be made of black Bakelite. This base has a small area which may have been provided for monogram purposes but none has been applied.The base has its original felt on the underside with a circular section that once held a round plate to show particular manufacturing details. Although this plate is missing my research shows the following information was on it: “REGD. DESIGNS 869697. 869675 880107/56 PRO. PATENT 7599/56 AS APPLICABLE”This piece is in very good condition with minor pitting. I purchased this years ago at a flea market and is being offered as is, as found. There is normal wear as can be expected. It does not spark so it will need flint and fuel. It also has years of dust and a bit of grime which can be easily cleaned if desired. Chrome is in very good overall condition. The jet unscrews from the arm so it will be shipped in two pieces to help guard against any damage.As usual, my photography is wanting but please be sure to take a good look at all the attached photos to get a better sense of condition and value.
