Antique c1870\'s French Export sterling 916 silver Aesthetic Acanthus leaf motif floral engraved and carved serving platter/tray. Measures 25 1/2\" long(point of handle to point of handle) x 17 1/2\" wide x 1 1/4\" deep and weighs 2144 grams. The tray is stamped with the French maker\'s mark of D. Kott and 916. There are no other French marks on the tray which leads me to believe this was originally made for export to another country quite possibly Portugal where the standard silver content is 916. The tray has been professionally tested and is fully guaranteed to be at least 925 sterling content. It is in very nice condition with do dents. There is a shallow ding on the underside of one of the corner edges. No big deal. All carved and engraved decoration remains crisp and well defined. Original hand welds to outer edge of base remain intact. Lovely old piece of silver. Enlarge all pics for best details.
