Huge vintage enamel on copper artist or painter\'s palette and paintbrushes pin/brooch by Matisse, featuring a blue enamel background with mottled translucent metallic copper enamel in the center and large translucent metallic golden enamel dabs and scattered multi-colored enamel (cobalt blue, white, red and yellow) confetti.

The brooch is in very good vintage condition, no missing or chipped enamel and light vintage wear to the copper; the brushes move slightly as they are attached to the riveted pin and clasp mechanism on the back. The pin and clasp are in good working condition

The brooch measures 4 1/4\" long including the brushes (2 3/4\" long for the palette) and 1 3/4\" wide

Weighs 29 grams

Signed \"Matisse\" without the copyright logo, which makes it one of the earliest Matisse pieces. Renoir introduced the Matisse line in 1952 and began copyrighting their designs in 1954
