Here the village children come to read and learn, finding that stories and far-away places vividly come to life in thought. At the window, a small boy loses himself to his imagination in a book. The M. I. Hummel figurine “Little Bookkeeper” captures Sister M. I. Hummel’s adoration for children’s sense of wonder and curiosity.
