Pressbooks were produced by film companies (Paramount, Warner Bros, etc) and mailed to theatre managers for use in advertising campaigns for upcoming movies. Pressbooks typically contain background on the production of the film, actor photos, marketing ideas, and photos of the various size posters available for the film’s release.

Most pressbooks also contain ad mats which were often cut from the pages to produce newspaper ads. With many pressbook ads having been cut out for this purpose, it is rare to find pressbooks in original/complete condition. It is rarer still to find pressbooks which have not been folded over the years due to their large size. Many of our pressbooks are both uncut and unfolded, adding to their rarity.

Highly collectible and increasingly difficult to find, pressbooks are also great for film research and excellent for framing.
