Chesapeake & Ohio Special

Illinois Watch Co. 18 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Chesapeake & Ohio Special. Rare and desirable high grade railroad marked private label. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial private label signed \"Keller & George, Charlotteville, VA\" who were watch inspectors for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. Watch is housed in a Crescent Watch Case Co. \"Planet\" model gold-filled case with attractively engraved bezels. Movement serial number is 1335187.

Running and a nice looking movement overall. Movement plates have some typical mild marks and some surface toning. Dial faces up very nicely with just some small flakes around the outer edge, a very small flake at the upper rim of the center hole, and some faint hairlines in the outer chapter betweeen 2 O\'clock and 3 O\'clock. This specific dial is the correct one for this watch but I paired it together as the movement came to me with an incorrect Illinois marked dial. Case is an attractive design but has wear to brass at some of the high points, wear to the engravings on the rear, and a ding at the lower part of the rear.
