Important Phra Ruang Temple Amulet, Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Lopburi. Circa: 12th C.

Description: 12th century Sacred Temple Amulet of a standing Sakyamuni Buddha, from the temple of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Lopburi, of northern Thailand.

Official Name: Phra Ruang Rang Pern, Kru Wat Phra, Sri Rattana Mahathat Lopburi Buddha.

Style: Lopburi Buddha depicted standing in a strong frontal pose, feet firmly planted on a half circular base, shrouded by a floral sanctuary-like setting, intricately rendered with the right hand in \'Abhaya\' mudra, the gesture of fearlessness, while the left hand is placed at his side. Buddha is wearing a long mosastic robe draped from both shoulders, with an undergarment visible, outter garment secured by a decorative belt. Detailed facial features with downcase expression, and the head crowned by a floral \'Diadem\', surmounted by a domed \'Ushnisha\' and ornament finial. The reverse is featureless with a rather flat surface, encrusted with a naturally aged patina both front and back.

Materials: Mixed Magic Metals - primary material being \'Nur Chin\', Black Lead, from ancient city Sawankhalok, north-central Thailand.

Age: 600-800 years old, dating to the Lop Buri Period.

Casement: Beautifully sealed in an early 20th century case, ornate motif, inner copper edge, and with a double-sided clear lens (MINOR SMALL CRACK AT BACK VENT HOLE).
