This sale is for a very large and impressive Chinese carving dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. The statue is hand carved from soapstone and is definitely the larges one we have ever sold. This impressive statue stands 20.5 inches (52cm) tall and is finely carved depicting two figures, one standing and one sitting, while holding various objects. The statue comes with a finely carved fitted hard wood stand of excellent quality. Condition of the piece is excellent as it is hard to find soapstone of this size in such great condition. There are a couple chip on the edge of the base and one to the flower on top. Overall just a wonderful and rare early Chinese carving and is extremely heavy.
