Very exciting piece just in. INUIT SEA HUNTERS HAT. Early to mid 1900s. From the Gary Miller Collection Out ofDearborn,Michigan.Inheritedfrom his Grand father whoacquiredit While in British Columbia 30 or so years ago. Made of carved wood (Cedar?), Pigment, Striped Feathers and hide. Classiczoomorphic bird design the brim. Used to keep the sun out of the wearers eyes and as a spirit guid to a happy hunt. The spirit of the bird depicted is thought to guid the hunters to a good hunting ground as itfliesover head. This is the real deal. There is a hair line crack running down one side butbarelynoticeable. 9\" long by 8\" wide by 12\" tall. All offers considered...
