A fine piece of craftwork, a exceptional hand carved mountain bear on ironwood, with lots of textures and movement.Ironwood sculptures are a handcraft that began with theSeri indigenous peopleof the state ofSonora. The wood comes from a Sonora Deserttree commonly called Palofierro (Ironwood), It is a slow growing important shade tree found in northwest Mexico; Ironwood is similar toebony, as it is dark, dense and very hard, it is so dense that it lacks air bubbles and sinks in water.
