From my most recent trip to Bologna, Italy, is this early 19th century Italian drawing. The drawing is part of a set of three simular drawings by the same artist. The drawing, executed in pen, ink and grey wash on early 19th century paper, depicts a classical scene. Three Greek warriors are looking a a statue, depicting the godess Artemis. A nude woman is sleeping, seated against the base. A male nude is walking away right.
The drawing could have been a study for a larger scale project (a painiting or a fresco).Authorship : the drawing is from the Italian Neoclassical School, most likely Florentine. Further research should be done to refine this attribution.Period : ca. 1810.Size : 28,4x42,8cm.Condition : Good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Top side mid : pinch holes. Unframed.Shipping : flat shippingrate 16$. Shipped as International Registered Mail (with trackingn°). Shipped in a tube. Combined shipping available.
