We\'ve been cataloguing Civil War Token pictures of every variety for more than 15 years, since the internet allowed sellers to post them.So, we\'ve collected many sets of picts of any posted specimen for each variety, in order to determine their true rarity.
We\'ve collected many picts of this IL660A-2a R-3 A & H. Alschuler variety and believe this to be More Fully Struck than most.The Obv. die has a Very Unique Floral Design in the Round. Often a few of its elements are found weak from filed die strikes.The Rev. was struck with the 1338 Die of Waistcoat with 2 buttons.Details are maybe touched on high devices.
See the 2nd Specimen - 3rd pict of a pict set of an NGC MS66 graded piece that was label valued at $450, back in 2004.
You\'ll see this specimen up for sale is a Fully Struck Die State, similar to the other graded example.
Who knows what kind of grade and value this piece might reach. It may be MS63 or better.
The beautiful thing about CWTs is that their makers never worried about trying to strike these pieces to US Mint Standards.Their 1st Priority was to get a product out as Cheaply as possible to merchants to use as temporary change for the sales of the merchants products.How nice the tokens faces looked was apparently of Little Concern, as is evident in the fact that they used dies in various stated of damage..This just makes CWTs even more collectible.
This Early Die state specimenwill add nicely to any Civil War Token Collection.
