Cathay Crystal, designed by Virginia B. Evans, was an important line for Imperial and debuted in April of 1949. This piece is the No. 5085 Pavilion tray. It has the Virginia B. Evans signature at the lower left, and the carving was done by Franz Hess. This piece and the Celestial centerpiece appear to be the only two pieces in the pattern with a combination of clear and satin finishes. The highly sculpted pieces have just a satin finish, though the wedding lamp does have a clear shade. Condition is excellent with a minimum of use and no chips, cracks, or dings.
