The Japanese soldier of WW2 was a resourceful, resilient fighter, loyal to his Emperor and willing to undergo tremendous hardships. He would, as John Wayne once said, \"just as soon die as stick a nickel in a jukebox\". Imperial Japanese Army troops in WW2 were issued the Type 90 steel combat helmet, and it quickly came to symbolize the hard fighting Japanese soldier of WW2. This Imperial Japanese Army WW2 TYPE 90 STEEL COMBAT HELMET is in good condition, with about 60% of the exterior finish having chipped away and been covered by patina, a circular area of darkening at the right crown, some loosening to the metal rivets at each lower back crown, a period replacement 5 pointed star (likely from an Imperial Japanese civil defense helmet) affixed at front, heavy patina around the inside, missing the interior liner, missing the chinstraps, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the helmet is in fine shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage to the tough steel construction. Most interestingly, it retains approximately 40% of its original IJA brown exterior finish, and is a fine example of a rare, original Imperial Japanese Army WW2 TYPE 90 STEEL COMBAT HELMET.
