Listed items will not be marked down during the listing duration.Nenuphar is the companion pattern to Moselle. They were both designed by the President of the American Silver Company. Nenuphar is a lush Art Nouveau water lily design. The front of the pieces are decorated with water lily flowers, and the reverse shows the lily pads. Nenuphar was made from 1905 into the late teens of the last century. The food pusher is a device designed to show little children how to get food onto forks and spoons. The hoe shape and handle let the child push food around, with the hope that eventually the food will go into the mouth and be eaten. These devices were common in children\'s silver prior to 1924. The food pusher can also confirm people into the very bad habit of eating everything that is put in front of them. This is desirable for small children, and bad news for adults. The food pusher offered here measures about 4 1/4”. This is not a piece of new silver. It shows the patina of as much as 110 years of use by children. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is some silver loss on both sides of the pusher blade, the result of age and reasonable use by children. The pattern is crisp and clear. I polish all silver before listing on .
