Here\'s a beautiful old hand made violin that had once been played by a very good violinist. The label inside is hand written with some elaborate and fancy lettering. I have included a picture, but I can generally make it out to be Alfred Emmerlich, Geigenbauer, Landwult. i/S. I am not sure about the spelling of the last name or the part after Geigenbauer. I have no information on the maker, but I was told this was a special violin. The violin has finely detailed inlaid bee sting purfling that extends to the corners. The varnish is a lovely deep reddish brown color. The violin has a bone/ivory material saddle and nut, which is very unusual. The violin also has a beautiful one piece back, delicately carved f-holes and a finely carved scroll. The violin comes with a very nice old Roth hardshell case that has some faux alligator on it. The pegs seem to work as they should and hold the strings in tune. I\'m not sure if the bridge is fit correctly, it was pulling forward when I tuned the violin. It may need to be replaced or re-set, that is where it will need a luthier. I\'ve relaxed the tension on the strings. I found the violin produced deep, warm, slightly darker and expressive tones when I bowed it. It\'s a very interesting violin that seems to be of professional level quality. I am assuming that it is German made, probably during the early part of the century, but I\'m not sure. I was told by the previous owner that the violin had been looked at and was evaluated to fall somewhere in the 6-10,000 dollar range for value. I really don\'t know! I have not had this confirmed, do not have any type of paperwork or guarantee, but am mentioning it as a piece of interest to the potential buyer.
