Italian School Old Master, The Moneylender, 18th Century Large Fine Antique Oil PaintingA superb 18th century Italian School old master oil on canvas depicting a moneylender with his moneybox of gold coins and his account book, after the 17th Century original by Gerit Dou.Very finely painted, showing exquisite detail of the figure\'s clothing and headwear.Study if you will the detail and colour of the subject\'s hair and skin toning and in particular his facial expression which suggests perhaps a world-weary, wistful train of thought.In very good condition, re-lined at some stage and with minor age related cracquelure to the paint surface.No visible signature although a signature may be hidden by what looks to be a large-ish frame rebate.A really exceptional oil painting, housed in an very good giltwood and gesso frame, ready to hang.Provenance: From a private Norfolk, UK gentleman\'s collection.Approximate image size: 59cm x 48cm (23\" x 19\") Here for sale with a low start price and without reserve.Do ask questions as required and do please see my other antique art listings and items of interest.
