ITALY: Knight\'s Cross in the Order of Saint Maurice and Saint Lazarus.The Order was instituded in 1816 by King Vittorio Emmanuele.It was awarded, mostly to Catholic recipients (Italian and non Italian) during the period of the Italian Monarchy for outstanding and meritorious Services to Italy. After the end of WW2, the Italian Republic no longer recognised further awards of the Order, however the Italian Royal Family in exile (King Umberto II and Crown Prince Vittorio Emmanuele) kept awarding the Decoration as Dukes of Savoy and Grandmasters of the Order.This example appears to be of the early post WW2 period.post WW2 1945Item 100% original - ribbon original
