These half hulls are gifts from the master at The Scale Model Company (Tom Harsh), turned later into Trident Studios. As a Capt in the Navy my aquaintance knew Tom and had some picking of the original models, which some went to Admirals and stayed within the Navy as well. Some of the keels were created from drawings before they were even built or constructed, which is what I heard, which is remarkable. To have a winner of the America\'s Cup is also remarkable.
As a photographer these are difficult to represent fully to the elite sailers who had the chance to sail them, but I tried my best. Even though some are flawless because of the way they were stored in the collection, I can notice this US 16 COLUMBIA has 2 flaws I can see when blown up. The decals at the front have a slight gap, and also a little bit at the aft portion. I mention this since I want any purchaser to know any flaws and maybe they are easily fixable. I don\'t know.
Some people on have been very specific about the material and the molds and the time spent in the making of these boats. I have only the hand off of the Cast who was given these which few possess. The specifics would take some time as the owner is off to a well earned, year-long vacation.
Any questions I will be happy to try and answer for you. As all of these styles, the front board is laminated and the back is natural wood. A bit of research into The Scale Model Company, and then Trident Studios will die you a wealth of information that is too long for me to condense here.
