Very nice Serene Stroll in Horse and Buggy by Lake Scene Large Oil Painting By Joseph Nordmann.

Vintage Oil on Canvas Impasto Impressionist Painting of Man and Woman strolling on Horse Buggy, Signed J Nordmann. It has the Artist name on the bottom of the backing of the painting. Also there is some numbers. Not sure what they all mean? See bottom pics to see that. This Painting is very Large. The Painting comes framed on a very Ornate Wood frame. It does have some scuff marks. And needs to be slightly cleaned. Painting itself measures 36\" X 24.5\". The frame measures 44.5\" X 32.5\". The Art is in good condition. It does have a ding in the top right side. See picture shown in the back. Since the Painting has thick brush strokes, you can not see it from the front. The Artist signature is on the bottom left side. Shipping is high because of size. Free local pickup welcomed. Please email me prior to making arrangements for pickup. Joseph Nordmann

Joseph B. Nordmann was born inDecatur, Illinois in 1922, moving later with his parents to Ohio. His early interests were drawing, playing musical instruments and science. Science won out and he attended Bowling Green State University, obtaining a B.S. degree in chemistry. Following this, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry from the University ofSouthern California. Since 1943, California has been his home. He owned and operated the first Environmental analytical laboratories in California. During WWII, he was employed as a chemist in defense related jobs. Nordmann was nationally honored for teaching and is the author of college chemistry texts as well as articles on art.

He began oil painting as a hobby in 1949 with private lessons from California impressionist Paul Conner, a great plein-air painter. Later, he studied with the renowned artist Nicolai Fechin and still later with Charles Movalli, Edward N. Ward and Van Waldron. After retiring from chemistry teaching in 1978, he became a full time artist. In 1984 he moved to the Monterey Peninsula where he continues his painting career. He has taught painting, conducted outdoor workshops and performed numerous painting demonstrations. Most of Nordmann’s work is done out of doors. He is noted for his impressionistic rendering of buildings and his fine renderings of the California landscape.

He has taught art in adult school and given workshops and numerous painting demonstrations to art groups. He is particularly noted for his impressionistic rendering of buildings. He has had one man exhibitions at the Carmel Art Association where he is an artist member.
