J. Pouyant JP Limoges France Bulbous Vase High Relief Rococo Collar 1890s-1930s:
$85.00

Description: Beautiful antique fine porcelain vase with Rococo Leaf high relief detailed rim, made by J Pouyant Limoges circa 1891-1932. Vase is all hand painted depicting a wild bouquet of rich earthy redroses and foliage. Rich earthy tones continue on the collared rim and on Rococo detail.Marks: This vase is marked with green J P L FRANCE marking and artist signed in what appears to be a B initial etched and glazed over on the bottom. The \"J.P.\"-over-\"L\" mark found on this piece is the designation Pouyat used on its undecorated white wares. The mark used on decorated wares was \"J Pouyat Limoges\" inside a wreath or \"J.P\" over L.\" with a second mark. That is missing on this piece. For this reason we think this vase was painted by a teacher or amateur china painter sometime between 1891 and 1932. We think a circa 1908-1910 date for this piece is probably about right. This particular vase is nicely painted and is far above average.Condition: Condition: Rim of vase naturally has some signs of wear as expected on an antique piece. Very nice antique vase has no chips or breaks. A small spot on the rim may show signs of a touch up. On the bottom near the 14 and 2 you can see a couple of hairline surface cracks in the glaze. These hairline surface cracks do not carry through to the inside of the vase. See pictures as they are a part of the description.Dimensions: 6\" tall, 4-1/4 \" diameter collar, 7 \" widest diameter.History for the Preservationist: Originally the white substance used to make the fine porcelain referred to as Limoges was discovered by a chemist\'s wife in 1765 in hopes of being used as a soap.⚓ We strive to earn 100% perfect \"Five-Star\" scores from you.
