Up for purchase is aJ. S. Hammond Company Advertising Sign. This sign is 48 and 1/2\" long and 8 and 1/2\" tall and weighs just over 20 lbs. It is a double-sided porcelain sign and is in really great shape (enlarge the pictures to assess the near mint condition).

Could it be an advertising company sign? Billboard maker sign? Is it an oil company sign? Is it tied to the J. S. Hammond that built railroad and trolley cars at the turn of the previous century (around 1900)? We are not sure

This sign belongs to Mr. Kenneth Boyd of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, and he is the one who found it. Mr. Boyd is 87 years old and haslived all of his lifeon the farm that has been in his family for over 100 years.He has been restoring petroleum products for several years now, having restored over 200gravity-flow and electric gas pumps to date (among other restoration projects).
