Spectacularoriginal Jean Patou c1925-1930 Art Deco evening gown - important, rare and beautiful. Fabulous design offers sexy glimpses of leg when walking, a sweeping bias cut skirt, and lots of bare shoulder. Fabric is velvet, likely silk velvet.Color is soft gold; photos are very close, not quite exact. This dress isgorgeous.
It retains the original tag -Jean Patou, Paris. On the back side of the tag is another with some handwritten numbers, possibly a design number. Near the hem, another small handwritten tag is stitched onto the dress, possibly the price in European currency. See last photo for all.
Size: Medium/Large. Laid flat, 20\" across at the bust; 16.5\" at the waist; approx 58\" length from shoulder to hem.
Condition: Not perfect, but good. The velvet fabric is strong and without holes, though there are rust (?) spots and streaks. There was a silk lining to the dress, but it\'s pretty much gone now, and the last bits are still coming off. There are missing hook and eye fasteners in back, basically those that were attached to the missing silk lining (the back was pinned for the photos). There are some open and loose seams on the dress (including the small inner front panel, which was also pinned in place for the photos, and along the front neckline). There is probably an ornament or tie missing from the front waist. But we like to be thorough - this dress is amazing.
