JESSIE BONSTELLE SIGNED PHOTO 1913 ACTRESS THEATER PIONEER:
$20.49

A fine 7.5\" x 9.5\" photograph from the studio of Titus and Borrell, Buffalo, New York signed \"For Arthur Allen- Best wishes from The Lady, Jessie Bonstelle-Stuart\". Jessie Bonstelle (1871-1932) spent her entire life in the theater, first as an actress and later as a manager, director and owner of her own theater company in a time when few women worked in those roles. The Bonstelle Theater in Detroit still bears her name. Arthur Allen joined her company in 1913, the year Ms. Bonstelle stared in \"The Lady from Oklahoma\". My guess is that\'s the year and reference in the photo.
