Original painting, acrylic on board. Signed and dated 1976.

Artwork is 9.5\" tall x 13\" wide.

Actual board size is 11.5\" x 15 3/4\".

This will piece would look good with a mat board over to frame the painting with a simple contemporary frame. Putting a mat over the art would cover any blemishes on the original board that is not part of the actual painting. The painting is in very good condition with no cracks and vibrant colors.

John Dominique original artwork, colors are perfectly preserved as it\'s the first time it\'s available for purchase from a private collection. Signature and date in lower right side of the artwork.

This is an authentic abstract by the artist dated 1976. Viewing the piece one can see his landscape style as well as figures and more esoteric nature found in his later works.

John August Dominique (1893-1994) was a California painter working in Southern California. He created a large body of landscape and abstract paintings in his long life and was recognized as a significant member of the California art community.

Painter. Born in Virserum, Sweden on Oct. 1, 1893. Dominique came to the U.S. in 1898 and spent his youth in Oregon where he began his art career as a typesetter and cartoonist for a small newspaper. He later worked at the Portland Art Museum, attended art classes there in 1913, and then continued his studies in San Francisco at the Institute of Art (1915-16) and the Van Sloan School of Painting (1917). He had further study in the 1920s at the Santa Barbara School of Arts. He studied with Colin Campbell Cooper, Armin Hansen & Carl Oscar Borg.

Dominique Live to be 100 years old with a celebratory exhibit at The Oaks in Ojai, California for his Centennial Birthday. He had an 80-year career as an artist and continued to paint after being declared legally blind.
