JSA: Strange Adventures (2004) #5
\"Life of a Madman\" is written by Kevin J. Anderson with art by Barry Kitson and Gary Erskine. Lord Dynamo has offered the world a cornucopia of gifts: medicine, art, music and literature to lift humanity above its base worries and troubles. All he asked in return was for the world to turn over to him the Green Lantern\'s power ring and Starman\'s cosmic rod. While the JSAers were willing begrudgingly to consider giving up their powerful weapons for the greater good of mankind, an impassioned speech given by Johnny Thunder convinces the world and the JSA that a much greater good would be served by GL and Starman retaining their items of power. This denial did not set well with Lord Dynamo who unleashed on the U.S. the power of lightning his amazing zeppelin airship controls.

While the JSA helps the city recover, Lord Dynamo moves on to Hoover Dam where he intends to tap into the nation\'s electricity grid to gain the energy he needs. While this mad plot unfolds, the villain reveals his terrifying origin to science fiction pulp writer Jack Williamson. Taken hostage by Lord Dynamo\'s cyborg Nazi zombies and armored automatons, Williamson has no choice but to listen as the strange menace outlines how he came to be. A child genius, the boy who would become Lord Dynamo, created marvels of science, literature, music and art but suffered from a genetic disorder that robbed him of energy. Needing increasing amounts of electricity to stay conscious, Lord Dynamo became dependent on machines that the Nazis provided him. But Lord Dynamo\'s dreams were far more ambitious than even Hitler\'s!
