BIO:Jack Agnew (Deceased) WWII 1942-1945 original member of the FILTHY 13 (whichwas the inspiration for the film The Dirty Dozen), 101st AB, 506th PIR. HeFILTHY 13 group parachuted into France Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, toremove a bridge over the DouveRiver. The mission cost most of the men theirlives, leaving Agnew wounded. Later in 1944 Agnew\'s unit of the 506thparachuted into the Netherlands and survived a devastating German counterattackduring Operation Market Garden. He then trained as a Pathfinder. His finalcombat drop was during the Battle of the Bulge, when Agnew and the remainingmembers of his unit parachuted into Bastogne, Belgium. Agnew used a Eurekabeacon to guide the first wave of C-47s during the re-supply mission. The unitat the time gained attention through a photograph in Stars and Stripes militarynewspaper. The men had a reputation for getting into trouble and spending timein the stockade. Agnew explained that he and his comrades \"weren\'tmurderers or anything, we just didn\'t do everything we were supposed to do insome ways and did a whole lot more than they wanted us to do in other ways. Wewere always in trouble.\" Agnew is a recipient of the 2 Bronze Star (4thhighest military decoration) and the Purple Heart


BIO:Jake McNiece (Deceased) WWII 101st AB, 506th PIR, D-Day Normandy, MarkeyGarden, Battle of the Bulge, was a key member of the FILTHY 13 that was theinspiration of the DIRTY DOZEN movie. Recipient of 4 Bronze Stars, 2 PurpleHearts and the Legion Honneur Chevalier ribbon.svg Legion of Honour.

McNiecewent on to make a total of four wartime combat jumps, the first as part of theInvasion of Normandy in 1944. In the same year he jumped as part of OperationMarket Garden in the Netherlands, which was featured in the book (andsubsequent film), A Bridge Too Far, and at the Siege of Bastogne, part of thelarger Battle of the Bulge. His last jump was in 1945, near Prüm in Germany. Hewas discharged from the military in February 1946

“He was in the 101stAirborne Division unit that seized the Carentan bridge portrayed in the movie“Saving Private Ryan.” The survivors of the unit went on to jump into Hollandfor Operation Market Garden. Afterwards, McNiece and the remaining Filthy 13volunteered for pathfinder service. Having lost 80 percent of the pathfinderson each mission, these men had essentially volunteered for suicide duty. Theyjumped into Bastogne to guide in a fleet of supply drops that saved thebesieged paratroopers during the Battle of the Bulge. McNiece made one morecombat jump and became one of only a few men to have survived four parachutejumps into combat.
