The Jan HagaraCollectibles were marketed as “The Original in Romantic Victoriana”. There areseveral steps in transforming a painting into a figurine. A detailed drawing ismade of the painting. A close up view is done of the model, outfit, shoes,accessories and any toy being held. Depending on the figurine, some may have upto a dozen different moulds to include the dolls, dresses, hats, toys that willmake up theme of the figurine.

Jan Hagara\'s workreflects back into a time of curls, lace, bonnets and bisque dolls for amoment, then return to today of modern conveniences, the best of two worlds.

Each design beginswith an idea , possibly a sketch, while a model is located to finish out theidea. A photo session is scheduled during which the child-model is dressed inthe costume chosen by Jan from her selection of antique clothing. From thephotographs made during the session, one or more are chosen.

At this point, JanHagara, the painter, turns to her canvas. And using the water-colors on herpalette, this widely collected artist-designer brings to life the little peoplefor whom she is so famous. Hagara\'s paintings are beautifully detailed, but ineach, one detail stands out. If you look carefully at each design, you will seeher distinctive trademark, the blue \"hash marks\", two strokes of bluepaint hidden in the painting. Close scrutiny will usually find her trademarksin the child\'s hair.
