Japanese vintage antique Wedding KIMONO UCHIKAKE TAISHO 100years old Museum Qlty:

This is historically valuable piece with Museum Quality！ We can not find it even inJapan.It is 100yearsold from TAISHOera(1912s-1926s) which kept by old family with MON(family crest). The UCHIKAKE in the TAISHO era, the dress and sleeve length areshorter, the lining is RINZU(damask silk), and the padded bottom hem is thickerthan present UCHIKAKE. In addition, the 5 MON(family crest) was dyed a lot inthis era. The MIJI era(1868-1912) did not use RINZU and dyed only 3 MON.

In Japan, “Phoenix” was adopted as a symbol of the imperialhousehold, particularily the empress. This mythical bird represents fire, thesun, justice, obedience, fidelity, and the southern star constellations. The maeaningof Phoenix in Japan is very similar to China. It is the symbol of peace.

Nowadays, the western style wedding is mainstream in Japantherefore these days the number of UCHIKAKE Kimono craftsman is decreasing inJapan. Therefore,the Uchikake is very rare and hard to get even in Japan nowadays.
