Up for sale is a 1918 Jewel Leather Scabbard for the 1917 LF&C (and other makers) \"Knuckle Duster\" trench knife. I purchased this scabbard complete with the knife some years ago from an estate sale of a WWI veteran. As was a common problem when the bladeswere out of the scabbard, the leather scabbard was fairly fragile andprone to damage. According to the man\'s son, his dad field-repaired the scabbard by completely wrapping the leather in cloth adhesive tape, the samecondition it was kept in ever since.

Since I had really bought it for the knife, I wasn\'t too concerned at the time, since I didn\'t have an extra scabbard for the knife anyway. Later, I carefully unwrapped the scabbard and discovered that there was a break in the lower third of the leather scabbard. Since I work in leather, I carefully removed the 80+ year old adhesive residue on the surface without removing the green coating. I thenused a very good leather glue and pins to repair the break, primarily to have a home for my knife.

I have since upgraded the scabbard and am offering this one to some other collector who may not have a scabbard or wants a home for their knife for a later upgrade. While it has been carefully repaired, the repair is strong and has held for some years. The scabbard presents well, given the age of the leather and its previous covering.

Please review all pictures to determine condition of the scabbard and repair and ask any questions before offerding. The metal components are in very good shape with all rivets present. On the side of the scabbard near the seam is stamped \"Jewel 1918\" with another stamping on the metal tip.

Please submit payment within three days of sale close. Thanks for looking and please remember to leave 5 star positive response - I always try to do the same. If you have any concerns regarding the transaction, please email me and most problems can generally be resolved amicably to everyone\'s satisfaction. Thanks for looking!
