John Ridgway Blue Transfer Hexagonal Sauce Tureen & Cover

6 7/8\"h x 5 1/2\" top dia, c. 1844.

6 sides shape with molded leaf handles, crown finial, on pedestal foot, ladle cut in cover. View of a large mediterranean villa with twin single arch bridges on a body of water, classical columned ruins on the left, a small boat on the water & a couple in the foreground. Border of concentric stepped lines with spearpoint edges.

Diamond registration mark printed in blue reading \"C,20,5,I\" for July 20, 1844, parcel 5. This is the 2nd item registered by John Ridgway. He registered the exact same shape with the addition of a molded relief scrolled arch across the panels - same hexagon, finial, handles & foot, etc. - on September 19, 1844 in plain white ironstone.

Tureen has some age toning on the interior - no damage of any kind. The cover finial has been reattched without loss - no other damage of any kind - no chips, cracks, hairlines.
