A 4’ x 6.5’ album page autographed by Judd McMichael and Allan Jones. McMichael (1906-1989) was the brother of Joe and Ted McMichael who were known as The Merry Macs. Jones (October 14, 1907- June 22, 1992), a star of Broadway and film musicals of the 1930s and forties, made his screen debut in Show Boat (1936). From the 1937 film Firefly came his hit song, \"Donkey Serenade\". He is best remembered for his romantic roles in two Marx Brothers productions: A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. After his film career he toured with stage companies in such productions as Man of La Mancha. On the strength of his appearance in A Night at the Opera, however, he won the coveted role of Gaylord Ravenal in the 1936 film version of Show Boat with Irene Dunne. McMichael has even added his famous Merry Macs name above Jones with both signatures in vintage fountain pen with ever so slight smudging on the Jones.

Provenance:

We are proud to offer the collection of Michael Stickner who served time in the armed forces during World War II. He was stationed in Hollywood, California and during 1942-1943 was able to obtain many autographs from various celebrities of that era. We bought these from his great nephew.
