This stunning vintage 1970s Judith Leiber evening bag depicts, with astonishing and delightful realism, a gold sunflower in full bloom. The front side of the bag shows the face of the sunflower, with the numerous flower petals surrounding the seed complex in the middle. The reverse side of the bag shows the back of the sunflower - the side that faces away from the sun - artfully depicting the stem and leaves, as well as the reverse side of the the flower petals.

The clasp at the top of the bag is another representation of a sunflower petal, with a simple closure mechanism that works perfectly and is extremely easy to operate. The Judith Leiber lozenge shaped metal plaque is found inside the same side of the bag where the clasp is mounted.

The inside of the bag is divided into two equal compartments, each side lined in gold leather. The center divide is also gold leather, and is capped with gold metal. The sides of the bag, when it is opened, are also gold leather, which expand, accordion like, and which are of course invisible when the bag is closed.
This amazing evening bag was purchased new at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills in 1971 or 1972. It is in beautiful condition, with little wear. Please see the photograph that shows a small discolored spot at the bottom edge of the bag near the hinges - this is by far the most notable flaw. Apart from this spot, there is scant wear and only extremely minor evidence that this bag is 45 years old.

Strap Drop: about 14 1/2\" to 15\" (I\'m afraid I\'m not an expert measurer with my 12\" ruler...)

I have searched and searched periodically for a number of years, but have never seen another Judith Leiber evening bag like this one.
